Adamston Elementary School Library

Adamston Elementary School Library in Clarksburg, West Virginia, serves 310 students from preschool through fifth grade. The library is home to over 5,100 books as well as educational videos, periodicals, and reference materials. The library also has four student computers that provide students with access to the school’s online card catalog. Students can check to see if our library owns books about a certain topic or by a particular author.
The goals of the Adamston Elementary School Library are:
· To foster the love of reading
· Teach information literacy skills within the context of the curriculum
· Enhance classroom curriculum instruction
· To provide a wide range of quality children's literature.
All students from kindergarten through fifth grade visit the library at least one time each week for forty-five minutes. Preschool will visit the library for a short story time beginning in mid-January. Books are checked out according to the following information:
Grade Level Number of Books Length of Loan Period
Kindergarten 1 (beginning in January) 1 week
First grade 2 (after Halloween) 1 week
Second grade 2 1 week
Third Grade 2 2 weeks
Fourth Grade 2 2 weeks
Fifth Grade 2 2 weeks
Overdue Book Fines: There are no fines for late books, however, students will not be allowed to check out new books if they have not returned their old books.
Lost or damaged books: Parents/guardians are responsible for the books checked out by their students. Lost or damaged books must be paid for on or before June 1.
