Mrs. Valerie Harris,
Assistant Principal
|
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Valerie Harris, the Assistant Principal at Bridgeport Middle School. The prime importance of my career is students' needs, their achievements, and happiness. I also believe the students are our customers and the staff and administration at BMS are responsible for preparing the preadolescent learner for 21st century skills.
I graduated from Fairmont State College in 1977 with a degree in French and Social Studies. In 1979, I received my Master Degree in Education Administration and later obtained my Master Degree +45 in Education Administration from West Virginia University. I continue to attend Professional Development sessions to update my professional skills.
Before becoming an administrator in 2004 at Bridgeport Middle School, I taught for twenty-seven years in various counties and schools. I began my career at the Industrial Home for Girls. I have also taught at Bruceton High School, Rowlesburg High School, Shinnston Middle, Luimberport Middle, and Bridgeport High School where I taught French I-V and Social Studies I have also traveled to Europe four times with my students from BHS.
I reside in Shinnston with my husband Ron and my cats. My two children, Audrie and Ben, attend WVU. Audrie is in her last year of Law School, and Ben is a junior Accounting Major.
In my spare time I love to go to the beach, swim, participate in water aerobics, reading for pleasure as well as for updates on the changing educational initiatives, shopping, cooking for my family, and spending quality time with my children and husband.
