Teaching Experience:  I have 28 years teaching experience in three counties
(Roane, Braxton, and Harrison)  and this is my 4th year as an administrator.  I previously
taught at Lumberport Elementary School for sixteen years, after teaching at both Wallace Elementary and Sardis Elementary.  I was the assistant principal at South Harrison Middle School for three years before returning to LES at the principal.  So, I've spent 32 years in my profession...so far.  I'm so glad to be back at LES!  :)

Family information:  I have been blessed with two amazing children who are the
loves of my life!

My daughter, Stacey is a second-year graduate school student at
the University of Illinois, Chicago, majoring in architecture.  She spent her fall semester in Europe, studying the architecture of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, in Barcelona, Spain, and Genoa, Florence, and Rome, Italy.  She has returned to Chicago and will graduate in May 2009.

Stacey is engaged to Adam  and will be married in June 2009.

My son, Roger is a senior at Lincoln High School and a fireman at
the Wallace Volunteer Fire Department. Roger also works with the Folsom
Volunteer Fire Department, where he enjoys working with their EMS squad.
Roger has taken several fire, rescue, and EMS classes this past summer.
Roger has played football and tennis for the Lincoln Cougars each year of
high school, and has lettered in both sports.   Roger made "First Team, All-County" and "Second Team, Big 10 Conference" this year in football.  :)

Roger is taking his EMT classes now at the United Technical Center in Harrison County, and plans to attend college to become a paramedic.

Stacey and Roger both attended Lumberport Elementary School, and both
received an excellent education here!

Hobbies:  I enjoy making scrapbooks.   I love to travel, especially to visit my friends in South Carolina.  I also enjoy reading.

Favorite subject when you were little:  I always loved science because it
was interesting to learn about so many things, and I enjoyed English because
I loved to read and to write.  At one time I thought I would be a journalist.

Favorite subject to teach:  My favorite subject to teach depended on the
grade I was teaching.  There's nothing like seeing a young student light up
when he or she figures out they are reading!  Also, when you can hook a
child with science or literature, those classes are great to teach.

Education:  I graduated from Glenville State College with a dual degree in elementary education and early childhood education, and have a Masters Degree from SalemTeikyo International University in curriculum and instruction, and a Masters Degree from West Virginia University in educational leadership.  I also have about 72 hours beyond that, so you could almost call me a professional student.

Favorite book:  I have many favorite books.  As a teacher, Eric Carle, Tomie
and dePaola were among my favorite authors.  As an adult reader, I enjoy Nicholas
Sparks, John Jakes, and Homer Hickam.
