I graduated from Fairmont State College in May 1998 with a degree in Elementary Education K-8 with a specialization in Learning Disabilities and Mental Impairmaents. Since I have been teaching, I have received certification in Kaplan Reading, Kansas Writing Strategy, and Thinkfinity.  In 2011, I received my National Board Certification.

 
                        

I began my teaching career at Lumberport Elementary as a permanent substitue for two years in the special education classroom.  Next, for several months I administered diagnostic testing for Harrison County Board of Education.  In January of 2002, I was hired as a special educator at Lumberport Middle School.  While at LMS, I have taught English and reading.  This year I am teaching English only.  Also, I team teach in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade English classroms. 

My time outside of school is spent with my husband and four beautiful children.

Facts:

The first “hoops” were actually just peach baskets and the first backboards were made of wire.
 Basketball became an official Olympic event in 1936 at the Summer Games in Berlin.

 

A soccer ball was the first basketball. The present-day basketball wasn’t introduced until 1929.

 

 

Slam dunks were illegal in 1967. But, by 1976, the dunk returned!

Three-point shots were established in 1986.
