S.T.E.P.S.
Successfully Teaching and Encouraging Parents and Students
The Lumberport Middle School staff must take S.T.E.P.S. to ensure progress among our school population and community. The S.T.E.P.S. program will be utilized to encourage parents to become actively involved in the child's education. Parents and staff will work together to ensure success and support for families in our school's communities.
Parents are invited to attend school during assemblies, science, social studies, and career fairs, or just on a daily basis if requested. These visits will develop an understanding of the teacher/student relationship, as well as, the parent/child relationship. Parents will be able to examine materials in our Media Center and on our school web page where they can obtain information about student problems, self-esteem building, and parent/child relationships.
Parents are encouraged to become apart of the Boosters (Parent Volunteer/Teacher Organization) and volunteer as a tutor or office helper. The S.T.E.P.S. program will combine the community, staff, parents, and students together to allow everyone to touch technology, improve relationships, step up academic scores, improve life skills, and examine career opportunities. All the components of the S.T.E.P.S. program will enable participants to soar to new heights.
