What is SnapGrades?
SnapGrades is an online gradebook program being used by members of the Washington Irving Middle School staff to improve the school to home connection. Through SnapGrades, students and parents can check current grades as well as individual assignments and scores online anytime. Washington Irving Middle School began using the program at the beginning of the 2006 school year.
How does it work?
Every student and each of their parents/guardians are sent home individual passwords at the beginning of the school year. Teachers post assignment descriptions and grades in their online gradebooks. With your secure access, you can bookmark a one-page summary of your child’s current grades for all classes. SnapGrades makes it easy to stay informed everyday!
What if I don’t have online access?
Lumberport Middle Schools sends home printed progress reports at mid-point of each grading period. Students are permitted to access and print detailed information in the school library. Additionally, consider using your work/office computer or the public library.
How do I get into SnapGrades?
After receiving your password:
2. Click the “Login” button in the bottom
3. Type in your ID and password
4. Enter the school information
5. Choose a new password

School History
With the cornerstone in place, 1928 marked the beginning of Lumberport High School. The first group of students entered this prestigious, historic building in 1931 with Luther Britton serving as principal. At the start of the 1975-76 year, the high school increased its enrollment by consolidating with Wallace High School. Upon the opening of Lincoln High School during the 1978-79 school year Lumberport High School was converted to Lumberport Junior High/Middle School, which eventually merged with Shinnston Junior High in 1990-91. Finally, with the start of the 1992-93 opening of school, it officially acquired its present name of Lumberport Middle School.

Lumberport Middle School is a consolidated middle school serving Shinnston, Lumberport and surrounding communities. Lumberport Middle School’s goal is to develop the total child into thinking and feeling human being, so that they may function and responsibly contribute in the global society of today and the future. Lumberport Middle School is committed to academic and personal excellence and practices the concepts of effective school climate that is conduce to learning. Lumberport Middle School has a very strong system in the communities it serves including four very active partners in education: MCM Business Systems, Shinnston McDonalds, and One Valley Bank .Lumberport Middle School offers its students technology programs that adequately prepare them to meet the demands of the 21st century.

Special Offerings
The GEAR-UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a partnership; to benefit children and parents with Fairmont State University and our county. This program is also held after school for the 7th grade students and will also be conducted during the summer. GEAR-UP was designed to enable all students to acquire the skills and self-confidence necessary to attend a college or university.
