Mr. STEVEN GIBSON

Assistant Principal Steven G. Gibson is entering his 21st year in education in Harrison County. Prior to the past six years as an assistant principal in Harrison County, Mr. Gibson taught science at Notre Dame High School (1991-1998), Robert C. Byrd High School (1998-1999), and Lincoln High School (1999-2006). He was named Teacher of the Year while at Lincoln High School. In July 2006, Mr. Gibson became assistant principal/athletic director of Liberty High School. From July 2011 to present, he is the athletic director and assistant principal in charge of students with last name L-Z at Robert C. Byrd High School.
A graduate of Potomac State College, Fairmont State University, and West Virginia University, Mr. Gibson has earned an associate, bachelor, and master degree. His philosophy on education is “True educators are ones who are willing to sacrifice today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard” (adapted quote by Dr. G. Nelson, co-founder of Earth Day).
He has been married for 23 years to his “high school sweetheart,” Sandy.
