About Our Community

South Harrison High School serves the communities of southern Harrison County. The school is located approximately 3 miles west of Interstate 79 on West Virginia State Route 270 between the communities of Lost Creek and West Milford West Virginia. The school can be reached by taking exit 110 off I79 then going toward West Milford on route 270.  The school is situated on a rural campus that includes both South Harrison High School and South Harrison Middle School. The high school serves 420 students in grades 9-12.  The middle school serves 400 students in grades 5 - 8.

In 1965, Lost Creek High School and West Milford's Unidis High School were consolidated to create South Harrison High School. This new school was a grade 7-12 facility. In the summer of 1996, the Harrison County Board of Education officially separated South Harrison High School and South Harrison Middle School into two facilities.  The two schools have once again been reunited under one administration.

The South Harrison area has experienced a recent growth with the arrival of the FBI Criminal Justice Information System and the opening of other high-tech companies in the Harrison County area.
