Scholarship opportunity for Sept. “49th United States Senate Youth Program”, Two high school juniors/seniors will be selected as delegates to represent WV in the 49th United States Senate Youth Program to be held March 5-12 2011 in Washington DC. The William Randolph Hearst Foundation sponsors this program. In addition to the one week expense paid program a $5,000.00 college scholarship will be awarded to each of the two delegates. One of last years’ winners were from Monongalia County.
To be eligible a student must :
- Have not previously been a delegate to the program
- Are currently serving in an elected or selected capacity in any one of the following student government, civic or educational organizations.
- Student body president, vice president, secretary, treasurer
- Student council representative elected or selected (selected by a panel, commission or board) to district, regional or state-level civic or educational organizations.
- Are permanent residents of United States and at least one of their parents/guardian is a legal resident of WV.
- Are currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in a public or private high school in WV.
- Must complete a 20 question test with essay week of Sept. 13, 2010 (OFFICIAL Date to be announced after student sign up with Counselor).

Westtest scores from 2009-10 school year will be going home with students this week.

PSAT testing will be in October 2010, more information to follow.
