Daily Requirements:

Bring to class every day:
-your textbook.
-your 3-ring binder,
-a blue or black pen, or a pencil (work completed in other colors will NOT be graded)
-notebook paper

3-Ring Binder:

By Friday, September 5, 2008, you need to have a 3-ring binder and bring it to class daily! They will be checked and graded on that day. You may use an old binder, just make sure it works and has both covers!
Part of your grade will be based on having this binder on a daily basis, keeping your grade sheet in it and filled out with current grades, and keeping your assignments organized in it. I will provide divider sheets to help you keep it organized.
The purpose of the binder is to help you keep your assignments organized in one place for study and review, to help you always know what your grade is, and to offer a backup of your graded assignments.
*If you think you did an assignment, but I do not have it in ThinkWave, I will still count it as long as it is in your binder with my grade on it! This is your backup, your proof of completed assignments!
*Binders will be graded each test day, and other days without me telling you in advance.

All assignments should have the following at the top of the paper:
            Name          Date            Assignment name          Block/Period

Grading:
Grading in this class will be based on a points system, and all assignments will be graded. At any time you should be able to calculate your percentage grade by taking your total earned points and dividing them by the total possible points. For example:

Test:           135/150
Binder:         50/50
Homework: 10/10
Totals:        195/210 = 92.85%
                    which is an A
Test:              135/150
Binder:           20/50
Homework:     10/10
Totals:           165/210 = 78.5%
                       which is a C
Grading will follow the Harrison County grading scale:

A          93-100%
B          85-92%

C          75-84%
D          65-74%

F           64% and below

Effort, attitude, and participation count!

Make-Up Work:
According to Harrison County Board of Education policy, you are allowed one day for every absent day to complete make-up assignments. In other words, if you are absent 3 days, you have 3 days to complete any work you missed those days.
*It is your responsibility as a student to get make-up assignments and complete that work on time! Make-up worksheets can be found in each class box; see me before or after class for other assignments.

Cheating:

Cheating is a serious offense and will not be tolerated at SHM/HS. Cheating can include a variety of acts:
1.      Copying from the paper of another student or person (this includes tests and homework).
2.      Allowing another student to copy an assignment or a test.
3.      Telling other students questions and/or answers to an assignment or test.
4.      Using “cheat sheets” of any kind.
5.      Doing someone else’s work.
6.      Lifting material from the Internet (or other sources) and submitting it as your own work.
7.      Utilizing technology (MP3 Players, telephones, etc.) to improperly obtain information.
Students committing any of the acts listed, or any other acts determined to be cheating by the faculty or administration, will receive a zero on the material in question and parents will be notified. Continued cheating will result in failure for the grading period, failure and the loss of credit for the class or other forms of academic consequences. Cheating is also a discipline offense subject to punishment through the Harrison County Schools Discipline Policy.
