Born and raised in Harrison County, Mr. David M. Sturm graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. Additionally, he graduated with Honors from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Dave and his wife Andrea, a teacher prior to having children, are the proud parents of four daughters that will collectively spend 52 years in the Harrison County School System. He is also the son of John (Fred), retired from the Louis A. Johnson Veteran's Hospital, and Nancy Sturm, a retired school bus driver from Harrison County.
In addition to serving on the Harrison County Board of Education, Dave was the former owner and publisher of The Marion County Observer, worked in finance and banking, and has been employed for 17 years by the United States Government where he has managed as many as 200 employees simultaneously. Currently managing a team of process improvement specialists, Dave has been trained and speaks throughout the country on how to implement ways to reduce waste and improve quality.
Aside from his professional life, Dave continues to work with Harrison County youth and he has spent over 21 years as a Manager or League Official with Babe Ruth Baseball, Jerry West Basketball, American Legion Baseball, youth soccer, and youth softball. Additionally, he has served as the Vice-Mayor and councilman for the City of Shinnston and is a member of the Lions Club, the Kiwanis Club, and the Shinnston Post 31 Sons of the American Legion.
