On March 18, the Board recognized a faculty member who has earned the respect and admiration of her school and was chosen the March Employee of the month.
Joann Gilbert serves as the assistant principal of Nutter Fort Primary, and was nominated by all of her school’s teachers and staff. They stated that she is extremely efficient and organized, always visible, and never fails to go beyond expectations when dealing with faculty, staff and students.
She attends team meetings, develops staff handbooks, and organizes informational binders for teachers. She has a knack for following through on teachers’ needs and their questions, always striving to get an answer. She further tends to the needs of special education students by seeing that their individual schedules are followed.
Mrs. Gilbert also handles discipline challenges firmly and fairly. She is concerned about the safety and welfare of all students and staff and, though she serves in a large school, she works to know the names and needs of all the children.
In addition, she makes a special effort to acknowledge staff birthdays and accomplishments, going so far as to create birthday and general bulletin boards, as well as showing her appreciation through positive notes in memos. She never fails to greet staff and students with genuine affection.
