Title I Distinguished Schools
Norwood and Nutter Fort Primary Elementary schools have once again been named this year’s Title I Distinguished schools. They are among a small number of elementary schools in the state that continue to meet these very rigorous criteria. Their principals were both recognized during the April 5 Board of Education meeting.
In order to qualify for this designation, both schools met the state accreditation standards for the last three years, as well as participated in the Title I program. The schools achieved AYP in reading and math for three or more consecutive years. In addition, they demonstrated 50 percent proficiency for all the subgroups in both reading/language arts and math based on 10 or more students tested.
The Board thanked the school representatives for all their hard work and for earning this distinction that reflected well on their students, staff and the entire school system.
Shown left to right are Board President Paul Howe III, Nutter Fort Primary Principal Joann Gilbert and Norwood Elementary School Principal Dora Stutler.
