Ed Propst, May 2009 Employee of the Month

He is shown with Board member Sally Cann, left, and family members.

Ed Propst was chosen as the Harrison County School’s May Employee of the Month.  He was recognized during the May 19 Board of Education meeting.
Mr. Propst has been a teacher in Harrison County for 29 years and a principal for 10 years. He is the first principal of Harrison County’s Alternative Learning Center, which serves the transitional middle and high schools, as well as the Tri-County High School, on-site at Gore.
He has been able to meld all three programs, with new ands veteran staff members, into one cooperative learning environment. He was nominated by a co-worker who said Mr. Propst is fair, positive and consistent, and he has the respect of both students and staff.
Mr. Propst is available to students and teachers throughout the day and often helps with lunch or bus duties. He treats all students, even the most difficult ones, with the same respect that he expects from them. He is especially supportive of the teachers’ rights to prohibit student behaviors that detract from the learning process.
Because of his leadership, the Harrison County Alternative Learning Center has become a place of opportunity for students to become a success when that has not been possible in their home schools.
Mr. Propst was congratulated by the Board and presented with a gift bag, a blanket from Doug Gray Nationwide Insurance, a plaque from MCM Business Systems, and a dinner certificate from Philip’s Pasta Cucina.
