Mike Queen

Michael L. Queen, Member, Harrison County Board of Education

      Michael L. Queen is the newest member of the Harrison County Board of Education.  He took his oath of office on July 1, 2006.  Mike is the father of one child, who is a student in the Harrison County School System.
       Mike is a lifelong resident of Harrison County having been educated in the Harrison County school system.  He is a 1981 graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School.  He is also a graduate of Marshall University where he serves as a member of the College of Business Board of Advisors.
       Mike is self employed and operates an equipment and trucking company with more than 80 employees.  He's also the senior partner in a public relations and government relations agency with offices in Clarksburg and Charleston.
       In Harrison County, Mike volunteers on numerous boards and commissions.  He is a member of the East View Lions Club, that Harrison County Farm Bureau, the Clarksburg Elks Lodge, the Shinnston Moose Lodge, the Knights of Columbus and the RW/WI/RCB Alumni & Friends Foundation.  
       Mike is the former owner and publisher of The Shinnston News & Harrison County Journal, a weekly newspaper.  In 1996, the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce named him and his partners the "Small Business of the Year".
       From 1984-86, Mike served on the West Virginia Board of Regents.  In 1989 at the age of 25, he was elected to the West Virginia legislature representing Harrison County in the House of Delegates.
       From 1999 to June of 2006, Mike served as a member and chairman of the United Technical Center School Improvement Council.  In 2001, then Governor Cecil Underwood named him a member of the West Virginia School to Work Council.
