Debbie Nicholson has been a Spanish teacher in Harrison County for twenty-seven years.  Nine of those years was spent at Bridgeport Junior High School and the remaining sixteen at Bridgeport High School.  In 2001, Mrs. Nicholson was chosen as the West Virginia Foreign Language Teacher of the Year and in 2002, she was named Harrison County Teacher of the Year. 

Debbie Nicholson grew up in Bridgeport and attended all Bridgeport schools:  Simpson Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Bridgeport Junior High School and Bridgeport High School.   She majored in Spanish and French at West Virginia University and completed her masters degree in Communication Studies from West Virginia University and has an additional 45 hours of graduate credit.  Mrs. Nicholson recently completed her certification in Educational Leadership at Salem International University. 

Currently, Debbie Nicholson teaches Spanish at Bridgeport High School.  In addition, she is responsible for the visiting Chinese teachers who began teaching at all Bridgeport schools last year.  She serves as the Faculty Senate Chair and is the advisor of the Bridgeport High School Key Club.  She is the Foreign Language Coordinator for Harrison County Schools. 

Mrs. Nicholson lives in Quiet Dell with her husband, three dogs and two cats.  She has a son who is in his first year of physical therapy school at Hampton University in Virginia.  She enjoys traveling and often takes groups of students and family members to Cancun, Mexico.
