Let's Go...
Ms. Jolliffe's First Grade
Mountaineers
Our class enjoys using their writing and reading skills to create stories and class books. They take pride in creating original pieces of work using spelling words, vocabulary words and those words from the books that we read together. The children can also practice these skills at home with their families. Writing is a wonderful way to revisit a story and discuss the events to help prepare for the weekly reading tests. It's also a wonderful way to practice spelling words and grammar skills. Our class is learning how to check sentence structure, spelling and punctuation in their own work and others. Please help them practice these skills at home.
*Remember*
- Mondays - Begin practicing the weekly spelling words to prepare for the test on Friday. Also, we begin a new story in the reading text on Mondays. Discussing the events of the story and the questions that follow it are useful ways to help prepare for the reading tests on Friday.
- Fridays -Weekly Spelling & Reading Tests
- Fridays - Blue & Gold Day Remember to wear your blue & gold as we fill our day with West Virginia history and current events in all subject areas.
Keep Reading & Writing
Thank you for your continued support!
