Mrs Riley

  Mrs. Riley's Class

Marsha Riley is a second grade theacher with 18 years of teaching experience. She has previously taught all grades K-8, with the exception of fourth. This is her eleventh year at Big Elm. Marsha also has taught at Wyatt, Shinnston, Lumberport, Adamston, and Lumberport Middle School.

Marsha resides in Shinnston with her husband Jay and daughter Amber. Her activities include: traveling, reading, walking and supporting her daughter in swimming and dance line at Lincoln High School.  In her spare time, Marsha coaches Lincoln's Varsity swim team.

Miss Griffith, our student teacher, has moved on the 5th grade at Norwood Elem.  She did a great job and will be missed.

Pricketts Fort- we had a great time at the fort.  We learned more about weaving, farming, and the gun shop.  The blacksmith taught us how to make a twisted fort.  Mrs. Riley even shot a gun and threw an ax. 

Our next trip will be to RCB to watch Hansel and Gretel.

Classroom Express 
Spelling-  Study words nightly, also practice ABC order; practice test is given on Wed., final test on Fri.
Reading-  Read little books each evening, don't forget to sign slip; textbook comes home on Tuesdays.
Language Arts- Students are learning about plural and singular nouns
Math- learning about money, next we will learn about 2 digit additona and subtraction
Science/Health- learning about the bones of the body
Read each night for at least 15 min; go over spelling words and word wall words. 
Parents please be sure to check your child's folder daily for information and to see what they have been doing in class. Please read with your child every night and talk about the story that you read with your child.
