Welcome to Mrs. Cantrell's 2nd grade!

         We have Reading homework each night.  Please have the children read to you.             The Reading test is on Wednesday. It will cover the story and vocabulary for the week.   

              In Math we will are working on basic addition and subtraction facts.  Please practice at home. 

                 In Spelling,  we will have a practice test each Wednesday.  Those students who do not make 100 will take the test again on Friday.   On Wednesday students are given two dictation sentences using a spelling word in each sentence.   I check for capital letters, correct spelling and end marks.  This is a seperate grade for  Spelling.

               Please check your child's folder daily.  The calendar in the front will help you  see how your child's day has been.  Please send a note when your child is absent or they have a change in their regular dismissal schedule.

I ask that you please sign the calendar and homework each day.   

        Students are rewarded for having their folder and homework signed each day.

Reading:   Monday - Decodable Reader 

                 Tuesday - Reading Book   

                 Wednesday - Timed Reading worksheet

                 Thursday - Guided Reading Book or Story of the week

                  NO HOMEWORK ON FRIDAY!

 

Math:   Study basic addition and subtraction facts.  Homework when given.


Spelling:   Study spelling words daily for practice test on Wednesday, and test on Friday.
               Students who make 100% on Wednesday will not be tested again on Friday.
