WELCOME TO MY HOME PAGE!
Let me introduce myself -- My name is Kay Elizabeth Burnett. I grew up in Southern West Virginia. I graduated from Fairmont State College in 1974 with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education and from West Virginia University with a Masters degree in Reading. Other than teaching one semester in McDowell County, I have taught the rest of my teaching career in Harrison County at Johnson Elementary School.
Personally, I have one daughter, Lindsay. I love to read mysteries, walk for exercise, garden, and knit. Going out to dinner with friends, shopping, browsing through book stores, or soaking up the sun at the beach are also favorites.
I truly enjoy teaching Third Graders. It is always exciting to meet a new group of students every August. Some of my favorite things about teaching Third Grade are Writing Workshop, thematic units, and photo journaling.
“Reach for the Stars” will be the motto for the 2011-2012 school year! The Third Grade motto is as follows: “Don’t wait until you grow up to be a great person, be a great person now.”
