Acceptable Use Policy of Technology and Electronic Communication Devices (TECD)

All existing federal and state laws, board regulations and policies apply, including
laws and regulations that are specific to TECD and networks, as well as those that are applica-
ble to personal conduct. The policy is broken down into the following sections:

All TECD are required to have signed completed agreement and/or permission
forms on file before accessing any computer-related technology. The required forms are at-
tached at the end of this policy.
5601.4.3
Any use of technology resources belonging to or on the premises of the Harrison
County Board of Education shall be done in a manner which is compliant with the Children’s
Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA and the
Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
5601.4.4
All users must use a unique, password protected, individual account and login ID to
access any TECD. These accounts are to be created, maintained, and disseminated by the
local building level network administrator. The use of generic login ID’s is prohibited with
the exception of specific situations determined by the Technology Coordinator.

All access to the Internet must be through state and county provided filtered access.
Any attempt to bypass filtering and network security is strictly forbidden and is a direct viola-
tion of this policy.
