Medication that must be refrigerated shall be placed in a closed plastic container
labeled “medicine” and placed on the bottom shelf in the refrigerator.
4404.6 Administration of Medication
Medication dosages that exceed the recommended daily dosage listed on the medica-
tion bottle or in the Physician’s Desk Reference shall not be administered.
Any medication given to any student shall be recorded on the Medication Log. The
Medication Log shall be kept in the student’s file. At the end of the school year, the teacher
shall place the Medication Log(s) in the student’s permanent file.
The school system is not responsible for students who “self-medicate”. These stu-
dents must have permission of the school and their physician and parents’ permission to carry
medication with them.
4404.7 Penalties
If a student is found to be in possession of any medication that is not approved by
the school pursuant to this policy, they are subject to being charged with possession of an ille-
gal substance and are subject to suspension and/or expulsion from school.
Any student caught “sharing” medicine with another individual will be subject to
county/school disciplinary action.
