THE 4TH AND 5TH GRADE STRINGS AND AFTER-SCHOOL CHOIR WILL PERFORM IN CONCERT ON JANUARY 19TH 7:00 P.M. @ SIMPSON ELEMENTARY.
THE BAND CONCERT IS JANUARY 21ST AT 7:00 P.M. @ JOHNSON ELEMENTARY.
Strings class:
4th grade: will have their class from 11:45-12:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
ASSIGNMENT FOR Jan 11-17: PLAY ALL PAGES WE HAVE PRACTICED IN CLASS. USE THE BOW. CHECK FINGER PLACEMENT ON BOW. PLACE YOUR INSTRUMENT ON YOUR SHOULDER, KEEP ELBOWS OFF YOUR BODY, KEEP YOUR THUMB BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND PIECES OF TAPE, DON'T LET YOUR WRIST TOUCH THE INSTRUMENT. Watch for repeat signs. Use the number "helps" above the notes.
5th grade: will have their class from 1:45-2:15 on Mondays and Wednesdays.
ASSIGNMENT FOR WEEK JAN 11-17: PLAY "Deck the Halls" (no F# or C#) and "Frosty" (no C#). Play 116, 117, 118.
Please have your student practice this week for at least 15 minutes 5 days each week. Students' assignments will be written inside the front cover of their book.
Band class: This is offered to 5th grade as a beginning class. This is instruction for playing flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion. No previous musical knowledge is required.
ASSIGNMENT FOR WEEK JAN 11-17: PLAY THROUGH TO PAGE 13 , SIT TALL, CHECK FINGERINGS, TAKE A FULL BREATH. USE TONGUING.
Mrs. Hutson's room has band on Mondays 11:45-2:15 and Mrs. Alker's room has band on Fridays 11:45-12:15. If we are scheduled to have no school on the Monday or Friday, we will use Wednesday of that same week for a make-up day.
Please have your student practice this week for at least 15 minutes 5 days each week. Students' assignments will be written inside the front cover of their book. They are to write how many minutes they practice on the chart each day.
