Is now offering…
PRIVATE PILOT GROUND SCHOOL
If you have ever thought about learning to fly and what all that entails, whether as a career option, or just as someone with a love for aviation, then this is the course for you.
Our 15-week ground school meets once a week and covers all of the information required to take the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot Written Exam. Some of the subjects included are:
Ø Aerodynamics
Ø Aircraft Systems and Aircraft Operation
Ø Aircraft Performance and Flight Planning
Ø Flight Physiology
Ø Federal Aviation Regulations
Ø Aerial Navigation
Ø Weather Theory and Data Interpretation
We incorporate multiple tools in the classroom to make the learning more relevant and entertaining, allowing you to apply what you learn as you learn it. From hands-on tools and teaching aids to a flight simulator, we keep the information flowing in an enjoyable and easy-to-understand format. No more rote memorization of abstract concepts. You will apply the knowledge gained in a realistic scenario based program, improving your understanding and retention of the material, improving your chances of successfully passing the FAA exam.
Patrick Camp, a former JetBlue Airways pilot, will be teaching Private Pilot Ground School. He has over 28 years of experience in the aviation field. He has flown in most of the normal commercial airline operations; with the most rewarding being the air ambulance and organ transplant flights. Mr. Camp loves to share his passion for flight, and his first job in aviation was that of Certified Flight Instructor. At the age of 16, four months before he could legally drive a car, he won a solo flight scholarship through the Civil Air Patrol which enabled him to achieve his pilot’s license.
This class will be useful to anyone wanting to explore aviation for either recreation or a career. Mr. Camp will impart his knowledge to students by utilizing entertaining and innovative teaching methods. One of the more exciting aspects of the class will be the utilization of flight simulation to introduce abstract subject matter in a more realistic and meaningful presentation, allowing the students to immediately apply material learned. Field trips to local aviation facilities and points of interest are also being planned. This class will cover many aspects of aviation, such as: Aerodynamics, FAA regulations, Navigation and Flight Physiology. He is sure that this class will prepare a student for the FAA Private Pilot Written Examination.
Mr. Camp will be meeting with interested persons on January 15th at 6:30 at United Technical Center to discuss the class content and answer questions. For more information, please contact Charlotte Lake at 304-326-7590 to register. Classes should begin in February and will run for 15 weeks, one night per week for 3 hours.
