Meet Our Administrator

Greetings!

My name is Mrs. Laura Dick and I am very excited to be working with the students, staff, parents, and community of Wilsonburg. This is my first year in Harrison County Schools. Previously, I was a teacher in Tucker County Schools for a few years followed by teaching and administration in Barbour County. I currently hold two Master's Degrees, one in Education Curriculum and Instruction and the second in Administration and Supervision.

Wilsonburg Elementary School Staff looks forward to working with you and your child as we embark on the 2010-2011 school year.We are a TITLE I school which means we are provided additional opportunities for the students to have extra support in reading and math to further their achievement. The staff at Wilsonburg Elementary take great pride in the school and students as they help them develop and grow into life long learners with strong character and 21st Century Skills to be successful now an in the future as we prepare them for a global economy.

Technology has become an essential key factor in the learning and achievement of all students across the county. At Wilsonburg Elementary, we keep technology at the forefront and strive to assure daily opportunities that facilitate technology integration and acquisition. For example, third grade students are now being provided keyboarding instruction as the West Virginia Department of Education has now implemented an Online Writing Assessment for the WESTEST Assessment in the Spring. Additionally, the WVDE has further implemented a program called Tech Steps that assures students will be technology literate by the time they reach 8th grade. Students will then be better prepared to be successful in the real world.

At Wilsonburg Elementary School we want our students to be engaged in learning through a safe and nurturing environment. School and student safety is essential in our day to day experiences. We strive in helping students develop appropriate behavior with respect and tolerance to others.

Please be looking for newsletters and other important information to come home with your child daily as we journey together into the 2010-2011 academic year! If you have any questions, please contact me at school at 304-326-7640

Sincerely,

Mrs. Laura Dick, Principal
