I am third grade teacher, Ms. Walker. I am a graduate of Marshall University and West Virginia University, and have had classes from University of Oklahoma, Salem College, and Fairmont State College. A firm believer in being a life long learner, I have a Master's Degree plus about 75 hours. I am certified in elementary education, mentally impaired, specific learning disabilities, behavior disorders, and educational leadership. I have been teaching for 33 years, and have taught in Oklahoma, Upshur County, and Morgan County in addition to Harrison County. I taught special education for 24 years and have been at Wilsonburg for the past eight years. I am an active member of the Wilsonburg faculty, and serve as network administrator, technology integration specialist, web master, Benedum Site Chair, LSIC chair, and Faculty Senate Chair. I am also an active member of PTO and encourage all parents and family members to join! I am the mother of four children, all grown and living away from home. I currently live in North View with my dog, Maddie and my cat, Paden.
Third Grade is a very transitional year. Students will be taking the WesTest for the first time this year, and will be earning letter grades in all subjects. Homework will be an integral part of the grades this year, so I urge parents to start out by checking agendas and getting students into a routine. You will soon become accustomed to the reading, spelling and math assignments, which will follow a pattern each week. I will also be posting vocabulary and spelling words on this web site. I can be reached for parent teacher conference on my regular planning period and will respond to e-mails as quickly as I can. I encourage parents to be actively involved in their child's education.
