Social Skills
Getting along with others is a skill we incorporate on a daily basis. School wide rules are reinforced with rewards for good behaviors.
Reading
Recognizing letters and beginning sounds are phonetic skills necessary for reading. Phonemic awareness is taught in many learning centers throughout the day. The children are learning decodable skills and practice these skills with level-reading books.
Math
Counting and recognizing numbers is practiced on a daily basis. These skills are necessary for success in addition and subtraction. Recognizing and drawing geometric shapes are important geometry skills.
Science
Hands-on experiements create questions about our environment. The children have planted seeds and watched them grow recording their growth on a graph. Children graphed the daily weather for the month of January using a bar graph. Predictions and actual outcomes were recorded in many of our daily science lessons.
Writing
Alphabet recognition and writing the letters are important skills. Writing words and sentences are important for storytelling and journal writing.
